Week #3: Meditation and Yoga (Part 3)

Hello blog! To finish off this week, I continued doing a meditation session on Headspace three times a day. I have been doing the meditation sessions in the order the app has set up for me so it has been super easy to manage. I have also been continuing to do one 20-30 minute yoga session on Daily Yoga as well! I feel that both of these apps have been very helpful in this process!



Headspace provides a new "Mindful Moment" for me to read each day! This was mine today!


Conclusion:

Overall, I believe that practicing meditation and yoga was super helpful. During the first couple of days, I struggled to remember to do these activities each day. After exploring more of the settings on Headspace, I discovered that I could set up daily notifications at a certain time. This was super helpful because it reminded me to do my meditation and yoga each day even when my mind was focused on something else. I felt that the yoga not only helped relax my mind, but also my muscles. I felt like it removed some of the tension in my shoulders, neck, and back that builds up throughout a stressful day of online school! I also felt that meditating helped calm my mind and refresh my mindset. I felt very refreshed and doing yoga and meditation which I was very surprised by! I did not think it would have such a major effect on me.


Effect On Mental Wellness: 8/10

Yoga and meditation really helped calm my mind and relieve a lot of my stress. What I really liked about this healthy habit was that it did not only just relax my mind in the moment, but the results lasted even after I was done! Although the meditation and yoga did take up a chunk of my day, I believe it was totally worth it. After completing a yoga or meditation session, I felt very refreshed and motivated to get to work! Since I was more focused, I worked much more productively! I feel that the yoga had more of an effect on me physically than mentally. I believe that meditation was much more effective than yoga overall which also surprised me. Meditating was the perfect little break in my day that allowed me to take a second to relax, reflect, and refocus! I will definitely continue to meditate in the future to help myself get through long, stressful days!
